Coil coating

The metal coils are cleaned thoroughly to remove any contaminants, such as dirt, oils, or oxides, that may interfere with the adhesion of the coating. Pre-treatment processes, such as chemical cleaning or conversion coating, are applied to promote adhesion and improve corrosion resistance.

A primer layer is applied to the metal coil. The primer serves as a bonding layer between the metal substrate and the subsequent topcoat. It enhances corrosion protection and promotes the adhesion of the topcoat to the metal surface.

The topcoat, which contains pigments, resins, binders, and other additives, is applied onto the primed metal surface. This is typically done using a roller coating, curtain coating, or spraying method. The coating is applied uniformly to ensure consistent coverage and thickness across the entire coil.

After the coating is applied, the metal coil passes through a curing oven where the coating undergoes a thermal curing process. The oven subjects the coil to controlled heat, allowing the coating to chemically crosslink and form a durable, protective film. The curing temperature and time depend on the specific coating system being used.

Once the curing process is complete, the coated metal coil is cooled down to a suitable temperature for handling. It then undergoes a thorough inspection to check for any defects, such as adhesion issues, color variations, or coating thickness inconsistencies. Any necessary touch-ups or repairs can be performed at this stage.
